PekeGirl2 asked:
I got an alert today from midland credit management for a debt that looks unfamiliar to me. I’ve kept track of my debts and this one cannot be right. From looking up this “company” they seem like a very bad collections agency and that I more than likely will never get a response from them. Freecreditreport.com has a dispute button next to this alert, so does that seem like a good idea? Also, I recently started paying off my biggest debt which settled for half of what I owe. Does anyone think they might have sold off the rest of the debt to another company. Any help is appreciated!
I wasn’t in a lot of debt, I just had a while where I was unemployed(along with my husband) and the bills mounted. The debts aren’t old at all. Most are only a few months old.

Kevin asked:
I signed on to a debt management program to lower my interest rates on my credit cards. Recently the company went into bankruptcy and I had to scramble to make sure those creditors were paid and I could keep the interest rates intact. Although 2 of them were easy to deal with, I am having trouble dealing with the third. Are there any departments or people I could speak with to make a payment arraignment that would keep those interest rates without going through another debt management program.

mamba asked:
Hi, I figured this was worth a shot. Here’s my sob story. I lost my job early in the year, didn’t qualify for UE, had to move, and have since gotten a new job and am starting to feel ok. Problem is, I have about 5 credit cards with about $32K that I haven’t paid on in 6 months (maybe 7 at this point). I am ready to start making payments again but now the minimums are so outrageous there is no way. Where do I start? Anyone have any advice on how to get back on track? I have had great credit up until this and I just want to get my head back above water so I can go back to sleeping. I’ve heard nightmares about debt management/settlement companies, and I am skeptical of credit counseling since they seem to be on the credit cards’ side. Please help. I also have a leased car and student loans….oh man.
I know I won’t come out unscathed…you will probably all laugh but I am a loan officer and know how credit works. I’m really just looking for advice on how to start getting back on track. I do not want to claim BK, not do I think I need to. Will credit card companies really work to help you get on track again? I never missed a payment (or was even late) before this all started….

Ok so here is the story, I am about 7,000 in debt. I work between 35-40 hours a week making $8.05 an hour. Back in Feb, I joined CareOne Debt Management Program and so far I’ve been able to basically catch up on my payments, but I’m still struggling to make other payments and set up a budget to be able to save anything. Please help me with anything you can think of.

I am almost 40 years old and have over $30,000 in credit card debt. I started a debt management program that will take 54 months to finish, but I’m not sure it’ll will help. Even working two jobs, I still just have enough to get by. I have been thinking about bankruptcy. I don’t know where to turn and have no one to talk to about this. Any input would be quite helpful.

What would be the best option in this situation?
