My apartment parking space was taken by the owner so I parked next door to go check when she was going to move her car. I found out that she was spending the night in another apartment so I went to move my car when the tow truck was hooked up to it. I told the driver I had cash inside and would pay whatever it cost to drop it and he agreed. I came back and the car was already gone. I drove the 2 miles to pick it within 15 minutes of it being towed and it cost $280. I paid it and did not dispute it, but now a private party parking management firm is sending an additional $50 management fee to a debt collector saying I need to pay this also. This seems a bit excessive to me. Are there laws in Denver that protect me against this fee?

John asked:
If you enroll in a debt management plan (the kind where the Credit Counseling Agency negotiates with your creditors to lower your interest rate and enable you to make a smaller lump payment each month, and so forth), is it usual and/or customary for them to take some of that payment you make each pay period and keep it as a fee?

Lately, I have been frustrated about college in general. I mean, you pay thousands of dollars, only to graduate and be so in debt, you wouldn t be able to start a business. I am a management major and plan to pursue entrepreneurship, but along with it are pointless courses like calc 2 and some religious crap and I just don t see the point. There are so many successful entrepreneurs either without a college degree or those who have degrees but werent trained in entrepreneurship specifically. ANy thoughts?

I called bank of america, because I have a balance with them on one card, the introductory rate stopped last month, and now I cannot afford the Minimum balance as I cannot find a job. The person I spoke to said there is no offers right now as in the 0%apr etc etc. But they recommended I call the # on my bill, I believe he said its a credit counseling that helps you pay all your credit cards in one sum each month.
Anyways, for people who have done this,is it worth it?
Are you allowed to at least have 1 credit card,in case of an emergency?

Hi there! Would be greatful for some advice from people who are experiencing the same as me! I live with my partner and have 2 children. We both have a joint mortgage and at the moment are currently up togeather with all payments on all debts and bills. The problem is y partner has lost 13000.00 this yr due to recession and we both have extreme outgoings as we have debts! I am currently setting up a debt management through cab and am waiting to here back from creditors to see if i can pay a lower mothly payment to them.
Has anyone else experienced this and has there house ever been at risk(even if they keep up with every agreed payment and respond to all letters etc)
Only asking as this is all new to me.
Just to clarify i have never missed a payment i am doing this as i know in a few months i will be at the point where i will start missing payments if i dont act now.
